BEAUMONT – The Lamar women’s tennis team will wrap up a busy fall schedule this weekend when the Lady Cardinals make the trek to nearby Houston to participate in the Cougar Fall Open on the campus of the University of Houston.

“I’m looking forward to a competitive atmosphere,” head coach David Wong said. “There are going to be a lot of big schools there, and I want to see the girls fight through tough points, show good composure and show me that we can compete from the start to the finish. The competition will be strong, and it will give us a chance to see we stack up.”

Lamar will be the sole Southland representative in the event and will be joining Arkansas, Auburn, Denver, Houston, Idaho, Iowa State, Liberty, North Texas, Rice, TCU, Texas State and Oregon.

Six players are set to make the trip for the Lady Cards as Lara Bogdan and Carolina Maso will miss play in the event due to injury. The event will feature eight flights and competition is scheduled to last three days. Play is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
