DMR's Close Out 2007 Texas Relays for Cardinals

AUSTIN, Texas - The men's and women's distance medley relay teams for Lamar University closed out the Cardinals trip to the 80th running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium on Saturday, taking fifth and seventh place respectively.

The women's DMR, run by Brittany Pollard (400), Andrea Smith running (800), Rachel Kingsford (1,200) and Amanda King (1,600) ran to the seventh place finish in a time of 12:08.78. The team finished ahead of teams from SMU, UT-San Antonio, Sam Houston, Houston, Drake, Rice and LSU, and finished behind Portland State, West Virginia, Kansas, UCLA, Oral Roberts and winner Texas Tech.

The men's relay team made up of Andy Haeggquist (400), Danny Shaw (800), Frank Bwambale (1,200) and Francis Kasagule (1,600) ran to their fifth place finish in a time of 10:14.00. the Cardinals finished ahead of teams from Drake, LSU, Houston and Mississippi State, and behind teams from UCLA, Cal Poly, American and winner Texas.

In Friday's action at the relays, Michael Gauthier ran a 10.92 in the prelims of the men's 100 meter dash. In the prelims of the women's 100 meter dash, Sahara Abraham ran a 12.55, while Jessika Johnson and Adrianne Johnson ran times of 14.62 and 15.39 in the 100 meter hurdles.
 

 

In relay action on Friday, the women's 4x400 meter relay team ran a 3:51.70, while the 4x100 meter relay team ran a 47.79.

The Cardinals will be back on the track when they run at the Northwestern State Invitational in Natchitoches, La. on Saturday, April 14.
