Lady Cardinal Relay Teams Run Season-Bests at Texas Relays

AUSTIN - The Lamar University track team failed to qualify any of their 13 runners for the finals of the 79th running of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, but the Lady Cardinal 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams posted season-best times on Friday. The 4 x 100 team consisting of Rosalyn Capps, Chinelo Nwobu, Toni Sylvester and Porsche Williams ran a 47.12 to finish sixth in their heat, while the 4 x 400 team made up of Brittany Pollard, Alexandra Mayfield, Nwobu and Sylvester shaved nine seconds off their season best time, running a 3:47.58 for fourth in their heat. Individually, the Lady Cardinals had three competitors, as Adrianne Johnson and Mayfield ran the 400 hurdles while Jessika Johnson will ran the 100 meter hurdles. Mayfield ran a 1:05.60 for seventh in her heat, while Adrianne Johnson ran a 1:07.76 for eighth in her heat. Jessika Johnson ran a 15.10 in hear heat of the 100 hurdles, finishing sixth in her heat. The Cardinal men's two individual competitors, Michael Gauthier and Stephen Boone ran the 100 meter dash and 400 meter hurdles respectively. Boone ran a 57.64 for eighth in his heat of the 400 hurdles, while Gauthier ran a 10.85 in the 100 meter dash, finishing fifth in his heat.
The Cardinals 4 x 400 meter relay team made up of Boone, Damien Broomes, Christopher Sams and Phillip Thornton finished the 1600 meter race ran a 3:15.51, placing eighth in their heat. The Cardinal track teams will be in action again April 13-14 in Nacogdoches, when they run at the Dogwood Invitational at Stephen F. Austin University. |
