FRISCO, Texas - A week after Joe Wade took home the accolades, Lamar runner Becky Gough was named the Southland Conference's Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday after winning a pair of races at the Jeff Davis Invitational in Lake Charles last Friday.

Gough, a graduate student out of Birmingham, England, started off her day by putting up the conference's best mark this season in the mile run. She completed the race with a time of 4:59.76 (adjusted), and it was her second title in the event this season.

Later in the day, she returned to the track for the 3,000 meter run and grabbed first once more, posting a time of 10:07.78 (adjusted), a mark that sits third on the conference's performance list.

"Becky had a great weekend, and picking up two titles was a great accomplishment for her," head coach Trey Clark said. "You're asking a lot out of an athlete by asking them to double up at a one-day competition, and the fact that she was able to do so well is really a tribute to her. We're very fortunate to have an athlete that is capable of that, and this award is indicative of all the hard work she's done for us."

Gough will return to action at the Southland Indoor Championships later this month.
