Beard Stabler set records at Leon Johnson Invitational

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Lamar's Leslie Beard set a school record in the women's pole vault, while Sam Stabler set a meet record in the men's 3,000 meters and also won the men's 1,500 meters at the Leon Johnson Invitational Track Meet at Northwestern State University on Friday.
Beard finished fourth in the women's pole vault with an effort of 11 feet, 3.75 inches, breaking the previous mark of 11-0.75 set by Candace Swell in 2006.
Stabler's time of 8:53.36 for the men's 3,000 meters shattered the previous meet best of 8:58.80 set by Dustin Joubert in 2007. Stabler led a 1-2 Lamar effort in the men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:54.16. Teammate Chris Jones was second in 3:58.36.
Lamar's Ashley Idunoba won the women's 200 meters in 24.26 seconds and finished second in the women's 100 meters with a clocking of 11.84 seconds, the fifth fastest time in Lamar history.
Beatrice Douglas won the women's long jump with an effort of 14-10.75.
Jamal Nash of the Cardinals was second in the men's 110-meter high hurdles in 14.54 seconds.
