Cardinals Post Nine Top 10 Finishes at Texas Twilight

AUSTIN, Texas - The Lamar University men's and women's track team posted nine top 10 finishes at the Texas Twilight meet on Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The most impressive showing for Lamar came in the men's 3,000 meter run which saw the Cardinals capture the top three spots in the race. Samuel Kosgei led the way, taking the top spot in a time of 8:20.13, while Drew Bean finished in second place in a time of 8:36.88. Frank Bwambale rounded out the trio in the 3,000 running to a third place finish in a time of 8:41.73.

Bob Ahimbisibwe and Craig Bailey each registered a sixth place finish on the men's side, with Ahimbisibwe in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and Bailey in the long jump. Ahimbisibwe raced to sixth in a time of 9:35.67 in his fist steeplechase of the year, while Bailey posted a jump of 21.98 feet.

In the women's 100 meter hurdles Megan Bibbs and Adrianne Johnson posted season-best performances as they finished seventh and eighth respectively. Bibbs raced to a 14.58 finish and Johnson ran to a 14.59 finish.

In the women's 3,000 meter run Taylor Cloy grabbed a seventh place finish with a 10:23.77 performance.

Ewan Simpson also registered a top 10 finish, placing eighth in the fast section of the 1,500 meter run. He ran a season-best time of time of 3:58.56, which ranks fourth in the SLC this season.

Lamar track will be back in action next Saturday when they run at the Northwestern State Invitational in Natchitoches, La.
