Ashley Idunoba won the women's 200-meter dash to highlight Lamar University's efforts at the Southeastern Lions Invitational on Friday.
Idunoba, the defending Southland Conference champion in the 200 meters, won the event in 24.35 seconds. Teammate Carmen Gedling was fifth in 24.99.
Idunoba also ran the second leg for Lamar in the women's 4x100 relay as the Lady Cardinals placed fourth in 46.42 seconds. Lamar was third in the women's 4x400 relay in 3:49.98.
Leslie Beard of Lamar was third in the women's pole vault as she set a school record with an effort of 11 feet, 5.75 inches.
In the men's competition, Lamar placed 3-4-5 in the 800 meters as Josh Raglon was third in 1:55.25, Aaron Malek was fourth in 1:56.63 and Ronnie Whitty took fifth in 1:57.02. Lamar's Idara Effiong was ninth in 1:59.16.
Jamal Nash had a strong day in the hurdles for Lamar. Nash was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.34 and fifth in the 110 high hurdles in 14.61. Nash teamed with Scott Carpenter, Whitty and Raglon to place fourth in the 4x400 relay in 3:17.21.
Michael Lester was fourth in the men's long jump with an effort of 23-2.5.
Lamar competes at the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet at Rice University on Saturday.
