BEAUMONT - After winning the 800 meter run at the Ty Terrell Relays last week, Lamar University junior Clerc Koenck was named the Aeropostale Southland Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Koenck ran a personal-best and the third-best time in school history in the women's 800 meter run, posting a time of 2:12.23 at the Lady Cardinals home meet. She edged out teammate Amanda King, who ran a 2:13.60 for the top spot. Her time is the second-fastest 800 ran by a Southland Conference athlete this season.

This is the second athlete of the week honor Koenck has garnered this season. She was named the athlete of the week on January 16, after winning the 3,000 meter run and the distance medley relay at the Purple Tiger Indoor Track and Field Classic in Baton Rouge.

Koenck and the rest of the Lamar University track and field teams will be in action again this weekend when they run at the Southland Conference championships, hosted by Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas.
