Koenck Named Southland Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

FRISCO, Texas - Lamar senior Clerc Koenck capped off her Southland Conference career in style by being named the Outdoor Track Women's Athlete of the Year, league officials announced on Monday.

Koenck, a senior from Anacoco, La., earned the top women's award to go with her awards from cross country and indoor track. Overall it is the fifth athlete of the year award for Koenck who earned the honor in cross country and indoor track during her junior year.

At the SLC Championships, she won the 1500 and the 5000-meter runs in dominating fashion to earn 20 points. During the regular season, she established the top times for the conference in the 1,500 with a school record time of 4:23.11 at the Stanford Invitational and set a new personal-best in the 5,000 with a time of 17:15.61 at the SLC Championships. She also set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a 2:11.82 performance at the Rice Bayou Classics.

Koenck will be back on the track on Friday May, 30 at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships in Lincoln, Neb.
