Amanda King and Clerc Koenck Named to the Academic All-Conference Team
June 18, 2007 BEAUMONT - Lamar University track standouts Amanda King and Clerc Koenck were named to the Academic All-Southland Conference team on Monday, capping a season full of honors for both athletes. Koenck, an exercise science major, posted a 3.76 grade point average while running cross country, indoor and outdoor track for the Lady Cardinals. She won the SLC cross country Championship, took home dual honors as the league awarded her the Outstanding Track Performer and Athlete of the Year, in indoor track and repeated as the conference champion in the outdoor 1,500 meter run. King, a psychology major, posted a 3.22 grade point average while also running cross country, indoor and outdoor track for the Lady Cardinals. She set a new Southland Conference record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:16.99 and was the only Lamar track athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships. The all-academic team honors student-athletes who were selected all-conference and/or named as a national all-academic recipient this year while also earning at least a 3.00 grade point average. Remaining spots on the all-academic teams were then voted on by the head coaches, sports information directors and academic/compliance administrators. Student athletes must have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
