EDINBURG - Redshirt sophomore Tina Hobbs pounded out a team-high 14 kills in her first collegiate volleyball match Friday, but it was not enough as Lamar lost its season opener 3-2 to Oral Roberts in the first match of the Texas-Pan American Tournament.

Lamar, which lost the deciding set by a 15-13 score, will continue action tonight at 7 against the host Broncs before closing the tournament Saturday morning at 10 against Idaho State.

The Lady Cardinals came out hot offensively, hitting .520 as a team en route to a 25-16 first set victory. ORU won the next two sets 25-15 and 25-17 before the Lady Cards evened the match at two with a 25-19 victory.
