Lady Cards Blanked By Eastern Kentucky

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped their second straight match, falling to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 3-0 in their second match of the Holiday Inn Express Challenge, hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

The Colonels jumped out to a quick lead in game one of the match, and never looked back for a 30-20 win. Game two saw a repeat of the opener, as EKU stormed to a quick lead, and held off all LU attempts to get back in the game, winning 30-22.

In game three, the Lady Cardinals battled to an early lead, but a strong run by Eastern Kentucky midway through the game buried Lamar. The Colonels closed out the match with a 30-22 win in game three.

The Lady Cardinals, now 2-6 on the season, were led offensively by Molli Abel's eight kills, while Adrianne Meengs and Ashley Todd passed out 20 and 13 assists respectively. The LU defense was led by Andrea Hamilton's 10 digs.

The Colonels were led by Amy Arlinghaus's 17 kills, while Shelly George knocked down 12 kills with a .500 hitting percentage.

The Lady Cardinals will be in action again at 3 p.m. as they take on Birmingham Southern.
