The Lamar University volleyball team improved their Southland Conference record to 3-1 Friday night, with a 3-0 win over the Nicholls State Lady Colonels in Thibodaux, La.
The Lady Cards opened the match with a 30-24 win in game one, which was the closest game of the three. Lamar closed out the match with a 30-20 win in game two, and finished off the Lady Colonels by taking game three 30-19.
Lamar improves their season record to 7-12 with the win, while Nicholls falls to 7-12 overall and 1-3 in SLC play.
Despite the convincing win, LU didn't have any players register double digit kills, but Molli Abel, Buchi Okoh and Courtney Mitchell each posted eight kills to lead the Lady Cards. Adrianne Meengs was the only Lady Cardinal to register a stat in double digits, passing out 23 assists.
As a team the Lady Cardinals hit .418 for the match, while Nicholls hit just .147. Lamar was also able to take advantage of 21 service errors by the Lady Colonels.
Lamar will be in action again Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., when they take on the Southeastern Louisiana Lady Lions in Hammond, La.
