The Lamar University volleyball team dropped a five-game thriller Friday night, falling to the Northwestern State 3-2 at the Montagne Center.
After jumping out to a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission, the Lady Cardinals were not able to hold off the Lady Demons.
Northwestern State came out on fire in game three and used their momentum from a 30-19 win to take control of the match.
For the match, Lamar was led by Buchi Okoh's 17 kills and nine blocks, while Nikki Perry also chipped in with 17 kills. Molli Abel added 14 kills and setter Ashley Todd passed out a match-high 61 assists and 13 digs. Defensively the Lady Cardinals were led by Alyssa Parks' 19 digs, while Erica Brown added 11.
Lamar volleyball will be in action again Saturday night when they take on the Louisiana-Monroe Lady Indians at 7:30 p.m. at the Montagne Center.
