Final Stats

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Wendy Krell had an efficient day offensively, hitting .471 with a team-leading eight kills, but it wasn't enough for the Lamar volleyball team as the Lady Cardinals fell 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-21) to Sam Houston State on Saturday in the final match of the 2012 season.

Lamar ended the year with a 10-22 record, and a 2-16 mark in Southland play. Sam Houston improved to 20-10 and secured a share of the SLC title with a 15-3 conference mark.

Cynthia McCollum recorded six kills and nine digs, and Alex Morford led LU with 23 assists and six digs.

The match marked the final in a Lamar uniform for Krell, McCollum and Morford as well as Christina Hobbs.

Rebekah Rightnour added five kills for the Lady Cards, and Cortney Moore put up four to go along with four blocks, including two of the solo variety.

Megan Schwartz spearheaded the floor defense with a match-best 12 digs, and both Erika Rojas and Sierra Whittaker added nine.
