CORPUS CHRISTI – Megan Schwartz’s double-double wasn’t enough in the penultimate match of the regular season for the Lamar volleyball team as the Lady Cardinals fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-22) to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Dugan Wellness Center.
Schwartz, who registered 10 kills and 12 digs, hit .364 for the match. Cortney Moore also put up 10 kills, but the rest of the team combined for 18 as the team was out-hit .252 to .123.
Moore also had the team lead in blocks with five, and Madi Martin was effective at the net as well, registering four. Erika Rojas led the effort on the back row, racking up a team-best 16 digs.
With the loss, Lamar dropped to 9-20 on the year with a 7-10 conference mark. The Islanders improved to 18-11 and 12-5, respectively.
Despite dropping the match, Lamar’s hopes for the postseason are still alive, and it could all hinge on the final match of the year, which is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Houston Baptist.
