Volleyball picked eighth in preseason polls

Aug 21, 2013

FRISCO – After missing out on the Southland Conference Tournament last season, the Lamar volleyball team will look to bounce back through an influx of young talent, but the coaches and sports information directors of the league believe the team will make it back to the conference tournament, as each picked the Lady Cardinals to finish eighth.

Central Arkansas, defending champions from a year ago, took home first place in both polls. Oral Roberts was second in the coaches’ poll with Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin tying for third. In the SIDs’ poll, the Bearkats were picked second with Northwestern State coming in third.

The Lamar volleyball team will open the 2013 campaign with four matches at the Texas State Classic, set to begin on August 30, before returning to McDonald Gym on September 2 for the home opener against Texas-Pan American.
