Riding a season-long six match win streak, the Lamar University volleyball team looks to extend that streak in Conway Ark. on Thursday night when they meet the Sugar Bears of Central Arkansas.
The Lady Cardinals enter the weekend with a 10-7 season record, and a 2-0 mark in Southland Conference play after sweeping Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana last weekend. The Lady Cardinals began their streak with a win over Denver University at the TCU tournament, and won three matches at the PROS Home Healthcare Invitational in Beaumont, defeating Tennessee Chattanooga, Jackson State and UC Riverside.
Kaci Brewer leads the way for the Lady Cardinals offense, knocking down 3.25 kills per game, while Molli Abel is averaging 3.18 kills per game with a .364 hitting percentage. Setter Adrianne Meengs has also been solid on the offensive side of the net, passing out 11.04 assists and knocking down 2.07 kills per game. Lamar's defense is led by libero Andrea Hamilton who is averaging 4.70 digs per game.
The Sugar Bears are led by Chloe Smith and Amicha Williams who are averaging 3.58 and 3.53 kills per game respectively. The UCA offense is controlled by setter Robyn Smith who has passed out 12.57 assists per game, while the defense is led by Kelly Bence's 5.33 digs per game.
After Thursday night's match the Lady Card will travel to Natchitoches La. to take on Northwestern State on Saturday at 4 p.m.
