Five Questions With Lauren Holdorff

Question 1: In your first two years here at Lamar you have played with Molli Abel and Buchi Okoh, both of which have been among the conference's leaders at middle blocker during their respective senior seasons. What have you learned from those two players and how has playing with them helped you develop as a player?

Answer: Molli has taught me how to be a leader both on and off the court. This year she has really stepped up as a senior leader. Buchi showed me a lot because there was so much pressure on her being the best middle and there was so much focus on her. We always depended on her so much and she still did well.

Question 2: What do you think is the best part of your game, and what area do you feel you need to improve in.

Answer: The best part of my game is my ability to pick my shot, not just swinging as hard as I can every time. I need to work on my blocking and staying focused all the time.

Question 3: You all are 5-0 in conference play and have won 10 straight matches. What do you think is the reason for your success so far this season?

Answer: We came in with the right mentality this year. Last year we were kind of shaky and we thought too much and we worried about reason why we couldn't beat somebody. This year we know we can play with those teams and we've proven it with some close matches against some big schools. We have the confidence that we can do it.

Question 4: How good can this team be?

Answer: I think we can go all the way of we just stay focused and keep our head right. We have to practice and play with the championship mentality that coach Gibert wants us to have everyday.

Question 5: If you could change places with any teammate of yours, who would it be and why?

Answer: I would trade places with Adrianne Meengs because I've always wanted to be a setter. I still want to be a setter. I really hope coach Gibert reads this so he can help me achieve that goal.
