Holdorff Named SLC Offensive Player of the Week

BEAUMONT - After helping the Lamar University volleyball team to a pair of wins against UT-San Antonio and Texas A&M Corpus Christi last week, middle blocker Lauren Holdorff was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Holdorff, a junior from Friendswood, Texas started the week with a dominant performance against the Roadrunners of UTSA, blasting 11 kills with a career-best .786 hitting percentage while posting three blocks. On Saturday she continued her impressive play against A&M Corpus Christi with 11 more kills and a .409 hitting percentage and another three blocks. For the week she averaged 3.67 kills per set with a .556 hitting percentage. In her 36 total attempts she had just two errors, leading the Lamar offense to a pair of victories. Holdorff ranks second in the SLC in hitting percentage with a .457 mark in conference play, while ranking seventh in blocks with one block per game. Her 44 total blocks for the year is first on the team and she ranks third on the team in kills with 100. Holdorff and the Lady Cardinals, who are 4-1 in SLC play, will be back in action on Wednesday night at 7:00 when they take on the Nicholls State Lady Colonels in Thibodaux, La.
