BEAUMONT – The Lamar volleyball team will be looking to avenge a loss earlier this season when they play host to Nicholls on Tuesday evening at McDonald Gym.

The Lady Cardinals (9-14, 1-8 Southland) saw a late comeback attempt spoiled by the Colonels in the SLC opener in Thibodaux, La. After losing 25-22 in the first two sets, LU came out of the break strong, hitting .484 and getting five kills from freshman Rebekah Rightnour to win 25-18. Lamar nearly forced a deciding set, but Nicholls made the necessary plays late to win 27-25.

Sierra Whittaker and Cortney Moore were most effective in that early season meeting, with Whittaker hitting .400 and posting 18 kills. Moore hit .304 and chipped in nine.

Nicholls is entering play on Tuesday with an 8-12 record, including a 3-6 mark in conference play. The Colonels are 8-22 all-time vs. the Lady Cards, but the mark is worse in Beaumont, with LU taking home 11 of the 14 matches.

First serve on Tuesday is set for 7:00 p.m.
