A closer look with Lamarcardinals.com
Lamarcardinals.com sat down with Meagan Adams. Take a look at what she had to say. Lamarcardinals.com: You all seem to have turned a corner and are playing better volleyball over the last several weeks and you look more like the team from last year and like what you were expecting this season. What has been the difference in the way you are playing now as opposed to earlier in the season? M.A.: Last year we decorated our locker room and every game was a theme. We were singing and dancing in the locker room before matches and it really got our energy level up. We hadn't been doing that earlier in the year and we realized that was one of the things we were missing. We need to have the music going, give out candy and bracelets and ribbons we can wear during the game. Once we started doing that our chemistry really started clicking and it felt like we were back to where we were last year. Lamarcardinals.com: You all have gotten yourselves in a position where you are tied for first place in the conference. As we go through the next couple of weeks, what is it going to take to maintain the intensity level to make sure you are in position to win another conference title? M.A.: Coach explained to us next week that no matter who we are playing, we need to win. It doesn't matter who we win against, a win is a win. In practice we are going to be pushed because we have to be ready to play everybody in the conference. Lamarcardinals.com: Individually you are having the best season of your career. Having fought through some injuries, how satisfying is it that you are having a strong individual season? M.A.: I've been waiting for this moment since I was freshman. After my shoulder injury and coming back from that, I was never up to full strength. Now we're two and a half months into the season and my shoulder is feeling good. I'm glad I've had an opportunity to play well and have a couple of dominant performances.
Lamarcardinals.com: After volleyball is over, what are your plans? M.A.: After volleyball is over, I plan on getting my personal training certificate in the spring before graduation. I want to be able to do personal training and be mobile. I want to live in the country, but I also want to have my own place in the city. Lamarcardinals.com: You mentioned that you want to live in the country. With that in mind, tell me what your ideal vacation would be. M.A.: If I just had some time off I would go back to my house. I live in the country so it's nothing but land, fresh air, cows, horses and dogs. I live right on the river so I get to fish every day and I've no stress and no worries. If I have a lot of money and free time I'd be on a beach somewhere drinking virgin daiquiris. Lamarcardinals.com: Well I'll let you dream about your vacations while you get ready for practice.
