BEAUMONT - Lamar University will host one of the hottest volleyball teams in the Southland Conference on Saturday afternoon at 1 when UTSA visits McDonald Gym for a key match.

The Roadrunners (14-9) have won their last seven matches and now stand at 8-1 in the SLC and atop the West Division Standings. Lamar is currently second in the East Division at 5-4 and stands at fourth place overall in the SLC.

The Lady Cardinals are coming off a 3-1 loss at McNeese State on Tuesday which dropped them to 9-11 on the year. However, Lamar is 4-1 at home in conference action with its only loss coming to first place Central Arkansas.

A long-standing series, this will mark the 44th meeting between the two schools on the volleyball court with Lamar holding a 24-19 series advantage. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season, with each school winning on its home court.

Lamar will have only two home matches left after Saturday's contest. The Lady Cards will next host Nicholls on Thursday (10/28) before Southeastern Louisiana visits McDonald Gym next Saturday. Both matches are against SLC East teams and could help determine the seeding for the 2010 SLC Tournament.
