BEAUMONT – The Lamar volleyball team will look to break its recent losing skid when it plays host to Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night at McDonald Gym.
The Lady Lions account for the sole conference win for the Lady Cards this season, and Tuesday’s match could prove vital in getting LU into the Southland Tournament next month. Lamar enters Tuesday 1-11 in SLC play, tied for ninth in the standings. SLU is currently 3-9 and sitting in eighth. The top eight spots earn a berth in the tournament.
Earlier this season, the Lady Cards fought back from an 0-2 deficit to pick up the win in Hammond in a five-set thriller. LU rolled offensively, led by 23 kills at a .465 rate from Wendy Krell. Sierra Whittaker added 19, and Cortney Moore hit .379 and chipped in 15.
This time around may be a bit different as Alex Morford has missed the last five matches due to injury. In last month’s showdown with the Lady Lions, the senior setter dished out 63 assists.
First serve on Tuesday is set for 7:00 p.m.
