BEAUMONT, Texas - Lamar University junior middle blocker Buchi Okoh was named the Southland Conference Aeropostale Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office Monday.

Okoh ended the week with 63 kills, 19 blocks, 75 points and a .439 hitting percentage. The 5-11 middle blocker averaged 4.5 kills and 1.4 blocks per game plus landed season-high figures of 25 kills against McNeese State and nine blocks verses Northwestern State. She played in all 14 games as Lamar defeated McNeese in five games but lost to Northwestern, 3-2, and Louisiana-Monroe, 3-1.

The weekly honor is the first of the year for Okoh, who was also on the honorable mention list for defensive player of the week. The Houston, Texas, native ranks seventh in the conference in kills per game (3.70) and 10th in hitting percentage (.287).

Okoh and the Lady Cardinals will be in action again Friday night at 7 p.m. when they take on Texas State in San Marcos.
