Five Questions With Molli Abel

Question 1: As one of two seniors on this year's team, what do you feel your major duties are for this team?

Answer: I feel like it's my role to set the pace for the team. It's our responsibility to show everybody how hard we work and what the tradition of Lamar volleyball is all about. We're trying to raise the standard and raise the level of expectation for Lamar volleyball.

Question 2: How do you think your game has improved over your four years at Lamar and what area has it improved the most in?

Answer: Over the last four years I've played right, middle and left, so I think I have become pretty versatile. I feel like I can play anywhere on the front row that coach wants me to. I've worked really hard on being able to run any set and I'm confident because I have a wide shot selection.

Question 3: Starting out 9-1 in conference play, what do you think will motivate you through the remainder of the season?

Answer: We're happy with the success we've had so far, but we're not going to let it hinder the success we hope to achieve in the future. We're going to keep working hard in the gym everyday, and keep the goal of a conference championship at the front of our minds. We want the ring. We want the hardware, and we're not going to settle for anything less.

Question 4: Being a team captain, who among the freshmen do you think have made a major impact this season?

Answer: I'm really proud of the way Destiny Mason has come in and played this year. She has done a very good job both offensively and defensively and we would struggle without her out there.

Question 5: If you could change places with any teammate of yours, who would it be and why?

Answer: I would trade places with Adrianne Meengs. She is such a good athlete and is very versatile. She has a very strong work ethic, which I admire. And I've always wanted to be a setter.
