BEAUMONT - The Lamar volleyball team will return to action on Saturday at McDonald Gym as they prepare to take on McNeese State in a showdown of regional rivals.
The Lady Cardinals will be looking for revenge after dropping a 3-0 decision in Lake Charles last month. Cortney Moore was remarkably efficient in the meeting, hitting .417 with 13 kills and three blocks, and Wendy Krell led the team in kills with 14.
Lamar is entering the match with a 9-18 record and a 1-12 mark in conference play. McNeese is 7-20 and also carries a 1-12 Southland record.
Both teams sit in a tie for ninth place in the league, and the winner will have positioned itself better to push for the eighth and final spot in the SLC Tournament next month.
LU is 40-22 all-time in matches against the Cowgirls, and the Lady Cards will be looking to pick up a win to split the season series for a third consecutive year.
First serve on Saturday is set for 1:00 p.m.
