Lamarcardinals.com recently sat down with Kaci Brewer to talk about the season and what motivates her. Take a look at what she had to say.

Lamarcardinals.com: Your season started out a little rough but now you seem to be rounding into form. Tell me what the season has been like so far.

K.B.: The beginning of the season was hard. The preseason schedule was pretty tough and then you add in the hurricanes and we've been through a lot. Now we seem to be peaking and we're starting to look like we did last year. This year we have a lot more talent on the team than we did last year. AT the beginning of the year we knew we had this much talent but the way everything started we were kind of doubtful. Now we know we can be good and we can win like we did last year.

Lamarcardinals.com: When starting lineups are done for the home matches here at McDonald Gym, announcer Brian Roberson gets fired up and always calls you last and has the biggest introduction for you. Do you like getting that little extra attention and being announced last?

K.B.: It gets me excited. I don't necessarily like being last but he really gets into it and makes it sound good. It pumps me up a little bit.

Lamarcardinals.com: We have the smallest gym in which matches are played in the Southland Conference. Our attendance numbers might not be as large as some of the other team in this conference, but what is the environment like on game days?

K.B.: Our gym is a little bit smaller, but when it's packed you feel like the fans are right there on the floor with you. There are some other places in the conference that have some good crowds, but there isn't anything like McDonald Gym where the fans are right there on top of you.

Lamarcardinals.com: What would it mean if this team was to win a second straight conference championship?

K.B.: It would mean a lot to take it again. I think a bunch of teams didn't give us the respect that we felt we deserved in the beginning of the year. We won it last year and people don't think we can do it again this season even though we blew everyone away last year. I guess we just have to go out show everyone that we deserve that type of respect.

Lamarcardinals.com: The final three weeks of the season are going to be full of tough matches. What is it going to take down the stretch for this team to achieve its goals?

K.B.: It's going to take a lot of determination. We lost to Texas State earlier in the year, but we put that behind us and we're starting to peak. It's just going to take determination and the will and want to win.

Lamarcardinals.com: What motivates you to play your best?

K.B.: For me personally I just think about how the opposing coaches and players don't give us the respect that we deserve. You should hate the players across the net because they want to take the ring away from you. I'm motivated to prove that we have the best team in the conference.

Lamarcardinals.com: Well on that note, I'll let you get out of here and get ready for practice. Thanks for stopping by Kaci.
