Shalayne Blythe Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Third Team

BEAUMONT - While she has been a force for the Lady Cardinals on the court this season, Lamar University middle blocker Shalayne Blythe picked up an academic honor as she was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VI University Division third team, as announced by CoSIDA today.

Blythe, a senior interdisciplinary studies major, has played in all 20 matches this season and has knocked down a team-high 167 kills (2.23 kills per game) and is second on the team in blocks with 57.

A native of Port Neches, Texas, Blythe knocked down a career-high 15 kills against McNeese State on October 24 and has posted 13 kills on two other occasions. Her highest hitting percentage of the season came against Prairie View A&M, when she posted an .800 average, with eight kills with no errors in 10 attempts.

District VI is comprised of university's from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The sports information directors from each university vote on the team.
