Lady Cards set to close out 2012 season

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar volleyball team will look to complete its 2012 campaign on a high note as it hits the road for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Sam Houston State this weekend. 

The Lady Cardinals (10-20, 2-14 Southland) were eliminated from conference tournament contention last Thursday after falling to league-leading Central Arkansas at McDonald Gym.

LU will begin on Thursday evening with showdown against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who is coming into the weekend 19-10 and 10-6 in conference play. The Lady Cards are 13-3 all-time vs. the Islanders and 6-2 in Corpus Christi.

On Saturday, Lamar will close out the season at Sam Houston State, who is fighting for the SLC title with a 13-3 record. The Bearkats are 18-10 overall and boast of a 41-23 mark vs. the Lady Cards all-time.

First serve on Thursday is set for 7:00 p.m. and Saturday's match is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
