LU Hosts Northwestern State and UCA to Wrap Up Regular Season

BEAUMONT - The Lamar University volleyball team will hosts the Northwestern State and Central Arkansas on Friday and Saturday, as they close out regular season play at McDonald Gym.

Lamar will host the Lady Demons of Northwestern State on Friday at 7 p.m. and will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Southland Conference East division leader UCA.

The Lady Cardinals enter Friday's contest with a 13-10 overall record and an 11-3 record in SLC play after falling to Sam Houston State on Tuesday night in Huntsville, Texas. Northwestern State comes into Friday's match with a 10-14 overall record and a 5-9 mark in SLC play, while UCA comes into the weekend with an overall record of 18-7 and is 10-4 in SLC play.

Lamar is led by Shalayne Blythe's 2.22 kills and 0.76 blocks per set, while Genevieve Gladle who is averaging 2.23 kills and 2.95 digs per set. Lauren Holdorff is averaging 2.11 kills and a team-high 0.84 blocks per set while ranking first in the Southland Conference in hitting percentage in league play at .398. Ashley Todd has paced the LU attack with 8.56 assists per set and Andrea Hamilton leads the defense with 3.72 digs per set.

Northwestern State is led by Yelena Enwere's 3.65 kills per set and Markie Robichau who averages 2.26 kills and 2.68 digs per set. The Lady Demon offense is run by Megan Dockery who is averaging 9.57 assists per set and the defense is led by Zanny Castillo's 3.78 digs per set.

The UCA Sugar Bears are led by Chloe Smith's 3.31 kills per set and Jessica Hays 2.95 kills and 2.75 digs per set. Their offense is run by Robyn Smith who is averaging 10.96 assists per set and the defense is led by Kelly Bence who averages 4.14 digs per set.

 

 

After the weekend matches the Lady Cardinals will take part in the Southland Conference Tournament in Nacogdoches, Texas which gets underway on Friday, Nov. 21. Seeding and match times for the tournament are not yet set.
