BEAUMONT, Texas -
Justin Gibert has resigned his position as Lamar head volleyball coach announced Director of Athletics Jason Henderson Thursday afternoon. Gibert had served as Lamar's head coach for the past nine seasons.
"I would like to thank Justin for his service to the university and Lamar volleyball," said Henderson. "I am grateful for how he represented the university, and our athletics department."
Gibert took over the program in 2005, and in his third year guided the Lady Cardinals to a 25-9 record and a Southland Conference regular-season title. The following season Lamar finished second in the division, but won the conference tournament advancing to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1993.
"It's been the most rewarding nine years of my professional career," said Gibert. "We've had some great victories and some championships that I've had the privilege to be a part of. It's been a great journey."
Gibert recorded a 121-156 (.437) overall record during his time in Beaumont. The Lady Cardinals posted a 9-21 (.300) record this season, and finished 10th in the conference with a 7-11 (.389) mark.
