FRISCO, Texas -
Megan Schwartz has made a strong name for herself both on the court and off of it for the Lamar volleyball team, and that recognition continued on Thursday as she was named to the Southland Conference All-Academic First Team.
Schwartz, who currently holds a 4.0 grade-point-average in social work, was forced to give up her libero position to become an outside hitter due to a number of injuries along the Lady Cardinal front line. The redshirt-junior excelled in both positions, joining the 1,000 career dig club late in the season. She finished the season leading the team in both digs per set (3.58) and service aces per set (0.36), the latter of which ranked among the Southland's conference leaders.
Schwartz is taking home the All-Academic honors for a second time, and she's one of just two on both the first and the second teams to hold a perfect GPA. The Tomball native was an automatic selection to the squad after earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team earlier this year.
