Clerc Koenck and Renee Graham turned in impressive performances at the Pre-National meet on Saturday, taking first and third place out of 123 runners in the women's open race at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Valley Sports Center.
Koenck picked up her first title of the season with a 20:56.6 performance over 6k, finishing six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Graham grabbed third place in a time of 21:04.5, 25 seconds ahead of the fourth place finisher.
"Clerc ran a great race today," cross country coach Sita Waru-Ewell said. "This was her best performance of the season and it came at the perfect time. This is one of the best meets in the country and she had a very impressive showing.
"Renee continued to do what she's done all season. With the performances these two had today, it really sets the stage for an exciting competition at the Southland Conference championships in two weeks
Koenck and Graham will be in action again on October 27 at the Southland Conference championships in Corpus Christi, Texas.
