Women's cross country earns national honor

BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University women's cross country team was named a 2011 Division I All-Academic Cross Country Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced today.
To qualify for the award, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better and have started a minimum of five runners at the 2011 NCAA Regional Cross Country Championships.
The Lady Cardinals, who placed third at the 2011 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, had a cumulative GPA of 3.45. It is the second consecutive season the Lady Cardinals received the award.
