BEAUMONT, Texas -
The Lamar University men's and women's cross country teams will each compete in four regular-season meets this season in preparation for the Southland Conference Championships and NCAA meets.
The season opens Sept. 2 with both teams competing at the Johnny Morriss Invitational in Houston. The Southland Conference Championships are set for Oct. 31 in Nacogdoches, Texas, as the men's team aims for its sixth consecutive conference crown.
Three of Lamar's four regular-season meets are in Texas. Lamar concludes the regular season on Oct. 14, with the women heading to the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., while the men are at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis.
"I think it's a very good schedule," Lamar cross country coach Trey Clark said. "The early meets will not impact our training. The final meets will be tough tests. The best teams in the nation will be at the Wisconsin meet."
