For the second time this season, Lamar University women's cross country runner Renee Graham has earned Southland Conference cross country athlete of the week honors, after turning in an impressive performance at the Griak Invitational.
Graham continued her strong season with a 13th place finish at the Griak Invitational in Minnesota, running the six kilometer course in a time of 21:48.8, 22 second and 20 positions better than her 2006 finish. She helped Lamar to a 13th place finish at one of the nations top cross country competitions.
This is Graham's third cross country athlete of the week honor in her career, earning the honor during the first week of the season after a second place performance at the Baylor Twilight Invitational, and winning it once during the 2005 season. Graham was also named athlete of the week in indoor track last season, for a total of four athlete of the week awards in her career.
Graham and the rest of the LU cross country men's and women's teams will be in action again on October 13, when they run at the Pre-National Meet in Terre Haute, Ind.
